Galahad Studio – Inbound Marketing
Tradonal illustrations with ink
INKTOBER 2018

During October, “A Doodle a Day” rested on daily ephemeris and joined Jake Parker’s INKTOBER 2018 challenge. But at Galahad Studio we thought we took it a little further and made a special list.

Thus, considering that in ancient times we believed in the existence of King Arthur, Brunhilda or Hercules, characters of poems and songs, we wonder what would happen if modern songs also had their heroes? What are the stories that exist within them?

That’s Space Oddity: The Most Wanted in the Galaxy. A tribute I make to all those things I like, such as music, comics, movies and science fiction.

Currently, social networks are increasingly visual. Therefore, if we accompany our content with an illustration or animation, we will get our followers interested in your brand.Don’t spend your time searching the internet for photos that look like your ideas. Ibero-America Illustrates
Participation for the 9th illustration contest, Iberoamérica Ilustra
Digital illustration and Storytelling

With the aim of disseminating the work of illustration professionals at the Ibero-American level, Fundación SM, El Ilustradero and the Guadalajara International Book Fair have been convening the Ibero-American Illustrated Catalogue since 2010.

The contest invites both established illustrators and young talents and results in a Catalog that shows the plastic trends and influences of illustration in this region.

Participation in the contest consists of the realization of between 3 or 5 original images that tell a story, without the use of text to describe them. Thus, each illustrator uses technical and narrative resources and their way of looking at and interpreting the world, to make their proposals.

The illustrations with which I participated on this occasion are based on the following narration by Sir Helder Amos:

Remote work

After they got married, they made a fortune deceiving everyone with their fake séances, he with his tricks and she with his acting.

When he died, she thought that without his tricks they would discover that he was nothing more than a fraud and that he would go bankrupt.

However, she was wrong, because now that they were not physically together, he was still doing his job and even much better than before. End.

In this way, I tried to reflect the hopeless character of the gypsy for the recent loss of her husband; his subsequent escape; And finally, between smiles and tears, the reunion with the loved one through magic itself, because love knows no physical barriers, nor is it forbidden to a couple of scammers.

The illustrations were made entirely digitally and although they were not winners, they meant a great advance in my skills as an illustrator and storyteller. To know the winners and learn more about the contest, visit the following link.

July 2018

The main challenge of the project is to produce graphics and animations every day, however, it is very easy to be in front of the monitor “blank”, when starting to work without a specific topic.

Therefore, I decided to generate a production list from daily ephemeris, so the contents would be different each time and would help me avoid the monotony of the topics. The list of those created during July 2018, is as follows:

  • World UFO 01_Día
  • 02_Derecho to the vote for Mexican women
  • 03_El Pathfinder lands on Mars

Dr. Pricila Ochoa
Visual identity design for Dr. Pricila Ochoa’s brand
Visual Identity Design and Branding

At the end of 2017, after learning about our branding projects, Dr. Pricila Ochoa commissioned us to design her business cards and medical prescriptions to offer her medical services independently in her office.

Instead, however, the comprehensive development of a visual identity, which would be independent of the doctor’s name, was suggested. This with the future vision of growing the office and the staff of doctors and specialties.

This is how La Vie en Rose was born, a general medicine and aesthetic medicine clinic. With this in mind, he set out to project a modern and elegant image, which would move away from the stereotype of traditional medicine.

Taking advantage of the elegance of the name and the beauty and dynamism of the mermaid that adorns the visual identity, the brand is aimed at people involved in fashion, beauty and healthy lifestyle trends.

My participation in the project was the development of the logo and visual identity manual, as well as graphic materials such as letterheads, business cards and medical prescriptions, according to the client’s brief.

Guides Group
As part of their agent training program.
Illustration Development, Art Direction and Animated Production

In conjunction with the marketing team of Grupo Guías, a series of animated contents was planned, which will serve as part of the training that the company continuously gives to its agents.

Grupo Guías, is a company with more than 40 years in the market. They have a passion for service and a willingness to help Mexican families. This has consolidated them as one of the largest insurance promoters in Mexico.

However, the quality of its service depends on the training of its agents. Therefore, in this first video of the series, the advantages of being part of Grupo Guías are narrated. All through a series of friendly illustrations, which reflect the spirit of the brand by being in contact with its agents and the people they ensure.

My participation in the project as Art Director, has been to supervise the development of the project In addition to generating the storyboard according to the client’s script, the animation illustrations and the animation itself.

Cover design proposal
To illustrate the cover of the novel “The Mighty Maldoon” by Michael D. Komeshak

In January 2018, Galahad Studio was commissioned to develop a cover proposal for an adventure and discovery novel, which takes place on the Giza Plain in Egypt.

The brief for its development was very accurate in relation to what was wanted to show the story to attract a young audience. On the cover, it was necessary the appearance of a glass pyramid, which would have the moldings of the Eye of Horus on its capital and the constellation of Orion on its front face. A simple but novel proposal was sought, with a bit of alien mood .

The proposal consisted of showing the pyramid in a counter-chopped view to make the detail of it more impressive, taking great care of the finish of the material, seeking to highlight the brightness of the glass, as well as its golden tip. Similarly, a desert landscape was illustrated, full of dunes to recreate where the story is located. The graphic style, it was sought to have a similar appearance to the covers of books and comics of the 50s, where this type of stories were very common, so it was sought to make clear the theme of the story. In the same way, the color palette is very bright, to give dynamism and energy to the image, as well as the story it accompanies.

My participation in the project was to generate the illustration of the cover, back cover and spine of the novel according to the needs of the client, as well as the preparation of the files for printing it. Unfortunately, the cover proposal was not chosen by the client, in favor of using a more photorealistic material to illustrate the book.

1st International Caricature Competition, José Guadalupe Posada
As part of the activities of the Calaveras Festival 2017
Finalist Image

One of the 50, among 1700 participating works. In addition, he was present at the awards and exhibition of the finalists in Gallery.

The cartoon is a cultural element deeply rooted in the history of Aguascalientes (Mexico). Therefore, during the November festivities, the state organizes the Calaveras Festival and in its 2017 edition, it organized the 1st José Guadalupe Posada International Cartoon Contest (famous Mexican cartoonist).

In this first edition, the central theme was the Catrina, an iconic figure of Mexican culture invented in 1913 by Posada and baptized by Diego Rivera, which has taken on special importance in recent years, thanks to its appearance in Mexican crafts and art, as well as in its appearance in films and books around the world.

My proposal was to recover the mocking sense that Posada imprinted on her, so I illustrated a very funny and carefree Catrina, riding on a revolutionary train, while leaving behind its creators and the history of Mexico, seeking to remain modern, despite the passage of time. The original sketch was made with pencil and down, while the color was applied digitally.

As a Mexican I highly value my culture and its traditions, so as well as in El Largo Camino, I have also made other illustrations such as the Tonatiuh T-shirt or for the exhibition Thinking about death, which I invite you to know.

ICID Congress
Event organized by CONAGUA at the WTC of the CDMX
Development of illustrations

The Dessignare team invited me to participate as an illustrator in the development of an audiovisual content for the National Water Commission (CONAGUA). The project involved a large-scale projection using a central LED screen and 2 side panels with 2 projectors each, to play the 6 min. long video. In addition, the time to generate the material was very limited, so there were only 2 full days to generate it and thus complete the project. My participation was the illustrator, and they developed from a series of images and visual elements ranging from landscapes, to graphics that pretended to be ancient glyphs. The production and management of the project was by the Dessignare team.
